The Robe of Righteousness 
"Only the covering which Christ Himself has provided can make us meet to appear in God’s presence. 

This covering, the robe of His own righteousness, Christ will put upon every repenting, believing soul.
“I counsel thee,” He says, “to buy of Me ... white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear” Revelation 3:18.

This robe, 

woven in the loom of heaven, 

has in it not one thread of human devising. 

Christ in His humanity wrought out a perfect character, and this character He offers to impart to us. “All our righteousness are as filthy rags.” Isaiah 64:6.

Everything that we of ourselves can do is defiled by sin.
But the Son of God “was manifested to take away our sins; and in Him is no sin.” 

Sin is defined to be “the transgression of the law.” 

1 John 3:5, 4.
But Christ was obedient to every requirement of the law. 

He said to His disciples, “I have kept My Father’s commandments.” John 15:10.

By His perfect obedience He has made it possible for every human being to obey God’s commandments.
When we submit ourselves to Christ,

--the heart is united with His heart,

--the will is merged in His will,

--the mind becomes one with His mind,

--the thoughts are brought into captivity to Him;

we live His life.
This is what it means to be clothed with the garment of His righteousness.

Then as the Lord looks upon us He sees, not the fig-leaf garment, not the nakedness and deformity of sin, but His own robe of righteousness, which is perfect obedience to the law of Jehovah."

Wedding Garment Parable -In Depth Study

1) The parable of the wedding garment opens before us a lesson of the highest consequence.
2) By the marriage is represented the union of humanity with divinity;
3) the wedding garment represents the character which all must possess who shall be accounted fit guests for the wedding. 

FIRST Call (from Father God?) before Crucifixion of Christ

The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. 

Matthew 22:2,3

SECOND Call (from Christ the Son?) to Israel after Crucifixion

Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage.

But they made light of it,

and went their ways,

one to his farm,

another to his merchandise:

Matthew 22:4,5

And another said,

I have married a wife,

and therefore I cannot come.

THIRD Call (Holy Spirit at work?) to the Gentiles

Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. 

So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. 

Matthew 22:8-10

And the lord said unto the servant, Go out into the highways and hedges, and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled. Luke 14:23

The Investigative Judgment

And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

And when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, ...she took of the fruit thereof, and did eat, and gave also unto her husband with her; and he did eat. 

And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons. And they heard the voice of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day: and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God amongst the trees of the garden. 

Genesis 3:6-8

But we are all as an unclean thing,

and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags;

Isaiah 64:6

"Revelation is precise:
1- In the judgment hour, the saints worship Christ as their Creator (Rev. 14:7), realizing that just as He brought them into this world, so only He can get them into the next world.

2- End-time saints are pictured as naked (Rev. 3:18), just like Adam and Eve at the Fall (Gen. 3:10, 21).
3- No fig leaves, or human works, can supply the need.
4- Only the slain Lamb can supply the covering;
5- only the robe of Christ’s righteousness (Isa. 61:10; Rev. 6:11), the wedding gar­ment supplied by the Lord (Matt. 22:11, 12), will suffice. 

The prodigal son needs the best robe

to cover his tattered rags 

(Luke 15:22)."

Our Filthy Rags

Satan accuses us before God while Christ defends us-
And he shewed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. And the LORD said unto Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan;

Joshua was clothed in the filthy rags of sin-
Now Joshua was clothed with filthy garments, and stood before the angel. 

Zechariah 3:3
The filthy rags are replaced by new ones to cover him in the righteousness of Christ-
And he answered and spake unto those that stood before him, saying, 

Take away the filthy garments from him. 

And unto him he said, Behold, 

---I have caused thine iniquity to pass from thee, 

---and I will clothe thee with change of raiment.
